LA MIES BAKERY

La Mies Cooperative Bakery formed in January 2013 in wake of Hurricane Sandy as part of an effort to rebuild the local economy of Far Rockaway, Queens and create a better future for local families and the community. The business is owned and operated entirely by immigrants from Guatemala y Honduras who have brought Central American tradition and flavors to their new business. We hope that as La Mies grows, it can inspire others in Far Rockaway to overcome economic hardship and take control of their futures.
